The Bang & Olufsen DNA is at the heart of the Beosound Explore. It is tuned not to be the loudest, but to sound the best. The two 1.8-inch full-range drivers have tremendous musical punch and depth for such a small speaker. The main focus was on outdoor performance and superior bass. The Beosound Explore delivers 59dB of bass compared to just 46dB on the previous BeoPlay P2, and approaches the 62dB of the 2nd generation Beoplay A1. Want to turn it up louder? Two Beosound Explores can be paired for stereo playback, of course.

A variety of potential environments ensures that the Besound Explore must lend itself to many placement options. It delivers 360 degrees of sound and comes with a versatile strap and carabiner so it can be hung up.

The Beosound Explore is the first speaker on the market to feature Type II anodized aluminum. Type II anodizing involves placing the aluminum in a sulfur bath, which causes aluminum oxide to form on the surface. This makes the material much more scratch and wear resistant than conventionally treated aluminum. Accordingly, the Beosound Explore looks newer for longer and is not easily damaged when you put the speaker in your pocket along with your keys, for example.

The Beosound Explore is a speaker that can be used throughout the day and will see listeners through the rigors of their busy lives. The result is a longer life compared to Bang & Olufsen's current products. The construction is strong and robust with a sturdy, load-bearing vertical aluminum structure behind the horizontal aluminum ribs. It has been tested to remain functional from drop heights of up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) -double the test performance of the 2nd generation A1. The Beosound Explore is fully IP67 certified. This means that it is completely impervious to dust or sand ingress on sunny beach days and waterproof in one meter of water for up to 30 minutes.

The Beosound Explore has been designed and engineered in an easy-to-carry and carry cylindrical shape, making it easy to hold and easy to place in a backpack pocket or car cup holder. The overall dimensions of the speaker have been chosen to create the best balance between a light weight (under 600g) and audio reproduction that is comfortable for the user. The user interface is located on the top of the product, providing excellent visibility for quick interaction.
